Remind is a platform for communication and learning that reaches students and families where they are. Built for education with mobile-first messaging that supports learning wherever it happens, Remind connects the people and resources that help give every student the opportunity to succeed.
Remind was founded in 2011 by brothers Brett Kopf and David Kopf. Diagnosed with dyslexia as a child, Brett struggled for years in school. When he met a teacher who built a strong relationship with him and others in his life—both in and outside of the classroom—it transformed the way he approached learning. Brett and David created Remind to make the same experience available to every student.
Even as texting became popular as a quick, simple mode of communication, teachers were relying on paper printouts, phone calls, and emails to connect with students and their families. After hundreds of conversations with classroom teachers about what they needed, Brett and David built Remind Chat: a way for teachers to text their classes without sharing personal phone numbers.
Like relationships, communication is a two-way street. In 2015, we introduced two-way messaging so students and caregivers could reply to teachers or reach out with questions—with a full record of communication, without any personal contact information, and in their preferred languages.
We launched Remind Hub in 2018 so administrators could expand communication from the classroom to their entire community. And with that came powerful new features to support organizations, like school- and district-wide messaging, software integrations, and advanced reporting features.
We’ve always known that messaging was just the beginning. In 2020, we officially launched Remind Tutoring to make high-quality tutoring available to families everywhere, with video-based sessions, hands-on problem-solving, and one-on-one time with experienced and interactive tutors.
As of 2022, Remind is used in over 80% of public schools in the United States. Schools and districts have purchased Remind Hub for more than 7 million students and their families. Students have gotten one-on-one help in more than 20,000 Remind Tutoring sessions. And we’re just getting started.
